Dr John K. Hyland

DC, DACBR, DABCO, MPH

Dr. Hyland has practiced chiropractic and active orthopedic rehabilitation for more than 22 years in the Denver, Colorado region. During that time he has worked to encourage his patients to improve their lifestyles to achieve better health outcomes.

In 1980 he graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic with honors from Logan College of Chiropractic, St Louis, Missouri. 

In 1988 he received a diplomate qualification from the American Board of Chiropractic Radiology (DACBR), Northwestern College of Chiropractic.

In 1989 he was awarded a diplomate qualification by the American Board of Orthopedists (DACBO), Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.

 In 2004, Dr. Hyland completed his Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) at the University of Washington, in Seattle WA, where he studied Health Education and Promotion, with a focus on Physical Activity. He has written many scientific publications and has also been a contributing author to many text books.

Dr. Hyland is currently Chief Technical Advisor at the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in Greeley, Colorado. Additionally, he is the past Chair of the Chiropractic Health Care Section of the American Public Health Association.

Dr Margaret Seron

DC, DACBR, DABCO

International Presenter - Greeley, Colorado

 

Dr. Seron is a 1982 graduate of Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (SCUHS).  She received a diplomate in radiology (DACBR) following residency and fellowship training; in 1989 she also obtained a diplomate in orthopedics (DABCO).  

Based in Boulder, Colorado, USA, she has maintained an x-ray consulting practice in Colorado for more than 35 years.  Dr. Seron reads MRI studies as a staff radiologist at two imaging centers. 

A postgraduate faculty member at several chiropractic colleges, she has presented seminars on radiology, advanced imaging and other subjects throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America and Europe.  Dr. Seron is an employee of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, contributing to the examinations for licensure.

Dr Thomas E. Hyde

D.C., DACBSP, CKTP, FRCCS (Hon), FICC

Graduated from Florida State University with major’s in Biology and Education and minors in Chemistry and Psychology.

Spent 5 years in the US Marine Corps and did 1 tour in Vietnam as a Platoon Sargent. 

Graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1977.He has subsequently obtained the diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DABCP).

Practiced in Miami, Florida prior to moving to Asheville North Carolina where he now liveswith his wife Susan.

Had 2 text books published with Marianne Gengenbach, ‘Conservative Management of Sports Injuries’; 1996 and 2006.

He has traveled all over the US and other countries treating athletes.

Is a Hall-of-Fame member in the American Chiropractic Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness and also the Professional Football Chiropractic Society.

He was awarded an honorary Fellow of the Royal Canadian Chiropractic Sports Sciences.

His hobbies are traveling around the world, hiking, climbing, golf, fishing, and especially outdoor landscape and wildlife photography.

Dr Josip Nenad Cakic “Chuck”

MD, PhD, FCS(SA)Orth, MMed(Orth)Wits

Dr Josip Nenad Cakic, known as Chuck, was born in Zagreb, Croatia. Currently he lives with his family, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

He achieved his medical qualification, MD, at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia, 1989.

Following his Internship and registration, he immigrated to South Africa in 1991, starting as an Intern at the then JG Strydom and WITS University Hospitals. After his internship, he continued his education as part of Surgical Rotation at the Department of Surgery, and obtained an orthopaedic registrar appointment in 1995. He graduated from WITS University with aFCS(SA)Orth in November 1998.

Dr Cakic then joined the Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship with Prof. Dr F.A. Weber, having a special interest in the hip. Here he completed a MMed (Orthopaedic Surgery) Degree. He went on to complete his PhD in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2009.

At the same time, Dr Cakic worked in his private practice. He treated many sports oriented patients and having a special interest in the hip joint, started developing Hip Arthroscopy in South Africa. In the last ten years, hip Arthroscopy has become a recognized orthopaedic procedure. Dr Cakic has established a training program for other orthopaedic surgeons.

Currently Dr Cakic serves as the President of The International Hip Preservation Society - ISHA. He is a founding member and past president of South African Society for Hip Arthroscopy – SASHA, International member of AAOA – American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and member of ISAKOS –International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee surgery and Sports Medicine.

Regarding Hip replacement, Dr Cakic with Prof Weber started looking in to different surgical approaches. Dealing with younger, sporting patients, muscle sparing surgery was a must. In 2006, he discovered AMIS – Anterior Minimal Invasive Surgery. Dr Cakic has established the AMIS procedure as his main surgical approach for THR and become a reference surgeon for the Medacta International in South Africa. Dr Cakic serves as a member of the Editorial Board of the JHPS – Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery and Review Board of AJSM – American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Ariel Eyal

MBChB, M.Med (Surg.)

Dr. Eyal is a vascular surgeon in private practice at the Netcare Waterfall City Hospital and Sunward Park Hospital.

He attained his primary medical degree (MBChB) in 1998 from the University of Pretoria and his surgical degree(M.Med) 2012 from Wits University.

His interests include Thoracic Outlet Syndrome as well as Venous Diseases.

He has performed many vascular surgical procedures which have included: peripheral bypass surgery to renal access, carotid surgery and aortic surgery both open and endovascularly.

Locally he is a pioneer in endoscopic decompression of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Dr. Eyal has published many articles in various journals.

He has often presented on the problematic diagnosis and treatment options for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

He also sits on the Waterfall Hospital’s Advisory Board as the head of vascular surgery.

Dr. Sean McCoy
