Straighten Up South Africa (SUSA) is a free community service initiative endorsed and offered by Chiropractic Association of South Africa (CASA). It is an exercise program that promotes improved spinal health, good posture, self-esteem, a vibrant quality of life as well as assisting with correct structural development.
Included in the SUSA program are spinal screenings. These are generally performed by the interns of the Durban University of Technology (DUT)/University of Johannesburg (UJ) Chiropractic Departments, under the supervision of qualified CASA chiropractors.
Many people work and play in cramped, awkward and slouched postures. The resulting pandemic of work and recreations related chronic spinal disorders compromise the quality of life. This program is beneficial in the training of correct postural habits and the exercises can be helpful in the facilitation of postural improvement.
The above-mentioned conditions can lead to severe disabilities later in life if they are not detected and treated in its early stage. This will reduce the quality of life of the involved individual.
Spinal screenings are a quick and easy way to detect these abnormal spinal curves.
CASA offers this educational program to schools, organisations and large corporates. Should you wish to take advantage of this community service initiative, please contact us.
Check the CASA Facebook page regularly for updates on any SUSA activity.
